He's not trying to compare the two. He's just saying that if he gets addicted to SC2, he won't have much time to play GW2.

And your point? You may want to read up on duel booting with boot camp since it does allow Ms Windows gnu/linux etc to be load rather easily on the mac Intel platform. If you don't have a copy of windows retail laying around guild wars works fine in gnu/linux. I do wish they would use openGL instead of directX.

good thing all those years of watching TV and playing video games has prepared me well for that day.

Not specifically at you Spazzer, but I HATE it when people complain about the cost of a campaign or expansion of GW, whether it be $40 or $50. That cost is really nothing in the world today.
I filled up my gas tank last night. Do you know how much it was? $38!! So for essentially the same cost as GW:EN I get to drive between home and work for the week. What's more enjoyable there?
Also, it costs about $40 to take the fam to a movie adding in concessions. That's 1.5-2 hours of entertainment total.

Sorry Anet, youve lost a customer, and you have also killed role playing games for me. I will continue playing, but impatiently waiting for Starcraft 2 so I can finally move on.

Sounds like a comparison to me...
again, not really a fair comparison since you can't create your own character in Starcraft and have him/her star in a cutscene.
Don't get me wrong, I loved Starcraft, thought it was a fantastic game, hands down the best Blizzard game ever. In fact, the news that the lead designer on StarCraft was working on Guild Wars was one of the selling points to me.
That said, they are totally different games, with different challenges.
Sorry that Guild Wars "killed role playing games" for you, but it sounds like you weren't really into them to begin with, as you are just waiting for SC2. Which is fine. But really has nothing to do with GW2.

GFT. If you can't afford $40 for a video game, don't buy it. If you can find a better way to spend you money, do it.

By that argument you could say that a casual player gets about 2 hours of entertainment from GW:EN so should cost $400. Right?
Price should scale with the benefits relative to similar games. GW:EN to Nightfall comparison. hell, GW:EN to Factions comparison. Similar length of story, but factions gets new professions, 2 new char slots, new armor, alot of new skills, etc.

But your forgetting one major thing so far and thats the link to GW2 and what is in GW:EN that none of us can see so far that will create and make that link between the two games

But your also forgetting that most of what you said is just speculation. Sure the devs can say a lot of things in interviews and those that have played GW1 since beta have heard a lot of the same stuff again from ANET with it's promises for GW2.
I'd rather wait until GW2 is released to see what they actually deliver and proper reviews are out.

Groovy, well whilst your waiting, i'll just be getting stuck in and starting on my 6000 GW2 hours
And yeah, i'll just think of GW2 as yet another continuation of a game i love... No more, no less

I'll be watching from the sidelines, just to see how many promises get fulfilled, and which are broken. Mainly to watch people who were so optimistic about everything break down and cry when they rush out to buy it and find something different from what they expected. I love some fanboy tears. Mmmm, delicious.

The only thing SC2 and GW2 will have in common is that they'll both be wtfawesome.
Just thought I'd throw that out...

Huh? If any player is only getting 2 hours of entertainment out of GW:EN, be they casual or hardcore, then I would say they're playing the wrong game or wrong style of game. That person should delete the game, any links to fansites, put it behind them with just the thought of it being a poor personal choice and move on quietly. I can't comment on how everyone plays the game or how they justify compensation. I can however say that I blew past 2 hours of enjoyment in GW:EN before I went to bed at 5 am after it went live. So, for me, a dollar for dollar comparison with other forms of entertainment it's easily justified.
If I were to compare it to other games it's fine as well. I remember saving up as a kid to buy Pitfall II for Atari. It's laughable to look at how much we had to pay for those games back then, which was typically just as much as now. It may just be my opinion, but the total content of GW:EN compares well to Factions and NF. The storyline may appear short, but what if completing every dungeon were required to "finish" it? What if each dungeon was a mission as the campaigns refer to it? I feel like there's more content when looking at it that way. What was there to do after completing NF missions? I actually didn't need any more professions to play. I already have eleven characters I play. And for skills... there are probably more of the new PvE skills that will see use from me than those added with the campaigns that were not as good, similar or duplicates of original skills...... Well, it doesn't matter what I say. Everyone thinks differently, expectations, desires...
Anyway, I'm involving myself too much in this thread when I didn't want to at all.

Yeah, I've never really been into buying games that aren't going to have live servers up for multiple years. Funny that.
As to whether I will buy it when it comes out or not, there's plenty of time to decide based an actual information that becomes available between now and then. The few high level vague details we've gotten so far aren't anything remotely decisive. I've seen some statements I like and some I don't.
We'll see what they come up with, but I'm definitely optimistic given how much value I've gotten out of their first series.
